What is leadership ?


Leadership for me is not just about leading and achieving the objective. I believe Leadership is an overall process of failures, attempts, efforts, will, zeal, energy, motivation, inspiration, hard work, discipline  etc that drives you to take the organization forward as a team. Leadership for me is a learning opportunity that helps to grow both at personal and professional level.

Leadership is the act of cooperation and facilitation that enables to achieve desired objective or goals. The role and responsibilities of Leadership is more dynamic to its operation than to its achievement as it lays the foundation for the coming future. Leadership cannot be undermined in any aspect as it set grounds for future. In every aspect of any organization leadership not only plays a crucial role in setting the goal but it helps to grow and expand the organization with its weakness and flaws.
Leadership for me is a challenge of possibility that marks my strength and weakness. Any representation of act can have two aspect of either gain or loss but in leadership you have to be precise in respect that test limits. everything that I have learned till date is what i consider my learning but my leadership has definitely been very objective and subjected to bringing change where I have stood and taken grounds for what i have believed in.
Leadership for me is a learning opportunities to learn and to try my skills in gaining better perspective to achieve proposed goals.

John Maxwell: “Leadership is influence – nothing more, nothing less.”

Warren Bennis: “Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality.”

Leadership is a process of social influence, which maximizes the efforts of others, towards the achievement of a goal.

Notice key elements of this definition:

-Leadership stems from social influence, not authority or power
-Leadership requires others, and that implies they don’t need to be “direct reports”
-No mention of personality traits, attributes, or even a title; there are many styles, many paths, to effective leadership
-It includes a goal, not influence with no intended outcome


Leadership lessons that i have learnt during my professional experiences are
-Leadership needs to be flexible
-Leadership should be professional
-Leadership needs to be non bias
-Leadership needs to be utmost disciplined
-Leadership needs to be adaptive and futuristic
-Leadership has to be facilitating in aspect of organizational progress
