Ganesh Thapa has been put on hold with his controversial financial transaction.
The British media ‘The Sunday Times’ carried a report mentioning that Thapa had forged an agreement with Qatar Football Association worth $ 8, 00,000. ANFA President Thapa claimed that he took only $ 2, 00,000.
The British media had also revealed that Thapa had received £115,000 from Mohammed Bin Hammam's company Kemco on a personal level. Suspended Hammam is the former President of AFC.
The anti-graft body had opened investigations into alleged corruption following accusations of irregularity, by parliament´s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on September 29, 2014. The parliamentary body had concluded that Thapa was involved in financial irregularities at the football governing body, to the tune of Rs 581.7 million.
However, CIAA´s putting the case on hold doesn´t mean that it is closed for good. The CIAA could re-open the case at any moment if it acquires evidence on corruption by the stakeholders.
