Representation of true leadership

It is said a leader is not just a person who leads but a person who manages and survives.

After the Nepal Earthquake, the country went through many challenges from reconstruction process, poverty, rainy season, deprived situation, lack of resources and charting the top the Indian blockade was cheery on the top.
This was a time in the history of the world where we Nepalese proved what we are and how we survive. If you look at the examples of the American Recession of 2014 thousands of people lost their jobs and were faced with the treachery of  recession. Before and after the earthquake and blockade life has got back to  normal life. People didn't die of hunger.
Looking at Nepal's situation one thing I can I strongly say is we have  better youth leaders and voices that have come up.

During the Nepal earthquake, the government raised its hand saying they have no human resources to deal with the situation, just think a country which has around 0.25 million Army men, 0.1 million Police, 40,000 armed police forces and many other fit people pulling off the hands, says the intentions of the government and its role towards disaster and crisis management.

Maybe this is the reason why still today's after one year the reconstruction process is a question of what next?

The sad thing is the morally challenged political parties and political leaders were shadowed by their limitation of their political manifesto which to this day is an example of the sad political culture of Nepal.

Nevertheless, talking more about the youth energy and fighting spirit , it was an amazing aspect that was seen during the Nepal earthquake. They came spontaneously with what they had some brought in food, some came to help and some just networked.

One of the examples of the time is Neelima Basnet an architect   who evolved as a volunteer and she coordinated with various reconstruction and relief work in earthquake region of Dolkha and Gorkha. She has been an aspirant volunteer worker who has given hopes to people to see a better future. The work that started with helping people has today created achievements of bringing smiles and happiness among the victims who praise for the work done.

She was frustrated of the situation and suffering of the people where the government was limited and there was nothing being done. She and few of her friends coordinated with a small groups in helping the people providing them with resources which grew and took a form of a coordinated project.

She represented Nepal in the United Nations Youth Assembly 2016 in New York.

I think, she represents the group of young leaders who stand out for the real values of GENDER EQUALITY and true values of women leadership and empowerment.
