KATHMANDU, March 9: The Nepal Government has regulated the online platform by introducing a new regulations making it mandatory for all online televisions including Youtube channels to be registered and come under the TAX limit. Till date there was no regulation to monitor the earning from youtube video's and other online platform.
The government has set Rs 500,000 as a fee to get license to operate online televisions
The regulation has been brought under the 19th amendments made in the National Broadcast Regulations, the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology. It states mandatory registration for all online entities who monetize Youtube channels. The regulation has also defined Youtube as an OTP platforms and all audio and visual programs broadcast or transmitted through the internet as online televisions.
The Proposed regulation by the communications and information technology ministry and adopted by the cabinet on 3 March, the decree is an amendment to the ten “rules” issued under the 1993 National Broadcasting Regulations (NBR).
