The much awaited reconstruction process was inaugurated by the President Bidya Devi Bhandari in a formal event on Saturday Kathmandu after nine months of ordeal. The 7.9 Ritcher scale earthquake killed nearly 9,000 people and damaged property worth 513 Billion.
With the formal inauguration of the reconstruction campaign, the Reconstruction Authority will be the definite body to handle the reconstruction process for the government.
The project aims to target rebuilding around 1 million quake-ravaged houses and infrastructure.
The Nepal Government has been hugely criticized for spending 27 billion just for the resettlement process. In view of lack of transparency and credibility a lot of Donor countries have withdrawn their promised aid in view of the lack of efficiency and effectiveness.
As per experts, it is due to the lack of management and efficiency that people in rural and remote areas are facing problems. The Nepal Government failed to conceptualize the reconstruction process, its mechanism and policy. In view of that during the nine months people failed to addressed their needs and waited the government for its support and coordination.
Sad but Nepal Government failed in every effort of its performance where normal public had to suffer the cost of their insecurities.
