Sonu Kumar Sunar, the technical staff of Taulihawa-based HUDA Radio was arrested for posting abusive status Hate speech against the President Bidhya Devi Bhandari in the social media.

Sunar status criticized President Bidhya Devi Bhandari for the controversial demand of 160 million.

Hate Speech and Freedom of expression(FoE) has a thin line where at times generic terminology can have drastic condition. Intention does play a crucial role but the question remains about criminalization of social media.

Personally I think the parameters set in should not be conditional to any status or power. It should be subjected to public governance and welfare. Censorship in any closed form is unacceptable but the government can and has the right to do open and transparent level of conditioning as per need.
